A brief description of the institution’s sustainability partnerships with the local community:
The college’s Biology Department has forged ongoing partnerships with several local organizations (Orange County Soil And Water Conservation District, Orange County Water Authority, Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge, Orange County Audubon, CUNY Institute for Sustainable Cities) since 2005 via the courses Environmental Conservation (BIO148) and Avian Biology (BIO146), where students have collaborated with these organizations in conducting projects relating to water quality, impacts of climate change, and wildlife surveys.
