A brief description of the institution’s sustainability partnerships with the local community:
Onondaga is working with community partners to advance sustainability in Central New York. The College's Small Business Development Center established a green business certification program that helps small businesses operate in a more sustainable manner. The Green Core Company certification provides a blueprint for businesses working to achieve green operations through reduced environmental and social impacts, and recognizes businesses that make a substantial effort to develop a culture of sustainability within their organization. The College also partners with local organizations. For example, the College collaborated with Clean Communities on Central New York on the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day to raise awareness of electric vehicles and other innovative green vehicle technologies. Onondaga’s Director of Sustainability is also participating in the City of Syracuse sustainability planning process with the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability’s green education and training team.
