"University of Galway expects that all of our Suppliers pays each employee at least the minimum wage, or a fair representation of the prevailing industry wage (whichever is the higher), and provides each employee with all legally mandated benefits."

The lowest regular grade on the University of Galway pay scale is Grade 1. The starting point is €28,283 for 1761.75 working hours. This equates to €16.92 per hour or 114% of the living wage of €14.80.

Furthermore, as a public sector body, University of Galway is bound by public sector pay agreements. University wages have already increased by 3.25% this year (in addition to the pay scales listed above) and will increase a further 1% in October 2024, 4% in 2025 and 2% in 2026.

Once the 2024 increases are taken into account, the starting point for a Grade 1 employee will be €31,090, which is 120% of the living wage.
