The University of Sanctuary - supports disadvantaged students and staff and its aims cover awareness, scholarships, inclusion and multiculturalism. University of Sanctuary provides each student with a mentor and through its actions aims to make Galway's community a much more inclusive and equitable space for all. The Higher Education Access Route (HEAR) and Disability Access Route to Education (DARE) are admissions schemes which offer places on a reduced points basis to school leavers with disabilities. DARE offers an opportunity to students who have the ability to benefit from and succeed in higher education but who may not be able to meet the points for their preferred course due to the impact of their disability/specific learning difficulty.
