Yes

University of Galway Student's Union runs a second-hand bookshop. Students can drop the books to sell in to the Students’ Union office and set the price yourself. The Students’ Union take a €2 administrative charge for each book sold. Note: We ask that all books are priced lower than the original cost.

Does the institution provide incentives for academic staff that explicitly encourage the authorship, peer review, and/or adoption of open access textbooks?:
Yes

A brief description of the incentives to encourage the authorship, peer review, and/or adoption of open access textbooks:

The University of Galway Library supports and promotes Open Educational Resources (OERs). OERs are digital resources used for teaching and learning that have been released under an open licence permitting their use and re-purposing by others. OERs reduce costs and barriers for students while making learning easier and better. Studies have found a direct link between OERs and higher test scores, lower failure rates, and lower drop-out rates.
