1st program
A brief description of the employee educators program (1st program):
The Community and University Sustainability Partnership (CUSP) was established in 2015 under the direction of the Deputy President and Registrar to showcase how a university can become a role model for the transition to a sustainable future. CUSP is a multi-disciplinary, voluntary team of mainly staff from across the campus all working together with the common aim of establishing the university as a leading institutional model for sustainability.
CUSP comprises a General Board, Executive Board, Working Groups and an Advisory Board. The CUSP General Board plays a leading role in the development and implementation of the Sustainability Strategy, aligning all our major efforts with the SDGs, including education, research, leadership, operational and engagement activities.
A brief description of the employee educators program’s target audience (1st program):
CUSP has four working groups: Research & Learning, Nature & Ecosystems, Sustainable Living, and Governance & Leadership. CUSP members engage with the campus community on one or more of these areas. This can include: organising events, training, outreach activities etc.

2nd Program
A brief description of the employee educators program (2nd program):
The University of Galway has hired two full-time Lecturers in Sustainability and Education for Sustainable Development. These Lecturers work with academic and non-academic staff to ensure that the SDGs, sustainability, the climate emergency, and related environmental issues are embedded across all of our degree programmes, undergraduate and postgraduate, and that our staff (academic and non-academic) are provided with professional development in these topics as well as in aspects of appropriate pedagogical approaches.
A brief description of the employee educators program’s target audience (2nd program):
These Lecturers work with academic and non-academic staff to ensure that the SDGs, sustainability, the climate emergency, and related environmental issues are embedded across all of our degree programmes, undergraduate and postgraduate, and that our staff (academic and non-academic) are provided with professional development in these topics as well as in aspects of appropriate pedagogical approaches. The Lectuerers do not teach students (other than academic staff who are taking the 'CEL6109 Sustainability in the Curriculum' professional development module).
