We propose to establish a ODU Sustainability Committee with the goal to facilitate progress
towards more sustainability in all areas of the university. This university-wide committee would
bring together representatives of faculty, facilities, administration, and students. It would leverage
the expertise and initiatives of faculty, operations, and students to identify where ODU could take
measures to reduce resource usage, make resource usage more efficient, increase social capital, and
enhance the impact of ODU on its socio-ecological environment.

A brief description of each sustainability officer position:
The Sustainability Coordinator is a part-time position in the department of Environmental Health and Safety. The coordinator is responsible for the STARS report process and submission. The coordinator also serves on the Sustainability Committee and cooperates with faculty, staff and students on programming. Specific focus is given to engaging students and laying the foundation for a university-wide sustainability plan.
