EcoReps is led by students who are interested in learning about and promoting sustainability on campus.


A brief description of how the student educators are selected (1st program):

EcoReps is led by students who are interested in learning about and promoting sustainability on campus. They meet twice a month to discuss opportunities and help plan major sustainability events on campus such as Blue Goes Green Week. ECOReps do outreach to the entire campus, hosting recycling days once a week during the spring semester where they collected recyclables and handed out information about recycling on campus and in Norfolk.


A brief description of the formal training that the student educators receive (1st program):

Formal training is given at the bimonthly meetings by campus and local nonprofit organizations. Last year ECOReps also had training from the Go Green Committee and the Keep Norfolk Beautiful advocacy group.


A brief description of the financial or other support the institution provides to the program (1st program):

Currently, the Coordinator for the Center for Service and Civic Engagement is the only full-time staff person supporting the ECOReps initiative. The financial support is provided out of the Center's Blue Goes Green Week programming budget.
