The Master of Public Health (MPH) degree is a professional degree offered by Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) in collaboration with Old Dominion University (ODU). The Program prepares individuals for careers in the field of public health, incorporating knowledge and skills that can be utilized in healthcare management, population-based research, and the community practice of public health.
The Program focuses upon four specialized tracks: Epidemiology, Global Environmental Health, Health Management and Policy, and Health Promotion. Students complete both didactic and experience-based courses, culminating in a community organization-based Practicum that provides students the ability to combine their classroom-based learning with "hands-on" public health projects.

The School of Community and Environmental Health offers an state and nationally accredited Master of Science in Community and Environmental Health for students wishing to pursue or enhance their career as environmental health practitioners, industrial hygienists, or occupational safety specialists. It provides the necessary skills for students to enter these fields in higher-level positions in federal, state and local government, the military, private businesses, and industry. Students receive the necessary academic and environmental health skills, and may select one of three concentrations in an emphasis area: environmental/public health, industrial hygiene or occupational safety.
The program focuses on the study and management of natural and man-made factors that affect the environment and consequently, the health and well-being of the general population as well as special population groups. Because of the diversity of challenges presented by these environmental factors - physical, biological, chemical, and behavioral - the skills of a variety of disciplines are required. The curriculum encompasses a wide variety of disciplines and emphasizes study in subjects specific to environmental health, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, and hazardous waste management. The MS Program graduates well-rounded, technically competent professionals, ready for employment in virtually any environmental health, occupational safety or industrial hygiene position of their choice.
