A brief description of the employee wellness program, policy, or practice:
ODU has wellness programming for faculty and staff that is listed on the department of Recreation and Wellness website: http://studentaffairs.odu.edu/recsports/. Faculty and staff can take part in all activities/events/programs that the Recreation and Wellness department provides including group fitness, wellness lectures, and personal training. Employee membership rates (which may be collected per month, semester, or year at the same rate) are delineated into three categories based on annual pay range. Details can be found on the Membership Types and Fees webpage: http://studentaffairs.odu.edu/recsports/ membership/membershipfees.shtml.
The Commonwealth of Virginia has a state-wide employee wellness program free to all employees called CommonHealth. Employees do not need to be enrolled in the health insurance program to participate. The website is: http://www.commonhealth.virginia.gov/. CommonHealth offers many programs and initiatives related to fitness, nutrition, balance, and education on the website. Additionally, CommonHealth offers free confidential health checks every two years for all State and Local Choice groups as well as links for fitness center discounts in the state. CommonHealth representatives would also come to campus if their services are requested.
