A brief description of the food donation program:
Campus dining expends perishables during winter and spring breaks and the close of spring semester by donating food to the local Union Mission homeless shelter and the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia. Additionally, ODU participates in the “Rock and Wrap It Up” event where all unused food from a Ted Constant Convocation Center event is transported and donated to the Union Mission that night. Furthermore, from December 6 - December 15, 2010, ODU students had the opportunity to donate meal swipes. A total of 14,482 meal swipes were donated by ODU students. Monarch Dining delivered approximately 1,000 pounds of food to the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia, located here in Norfolk, VA. The food bank was very grateful for the donations.
