Join the Master of Science Program at Oklahoma State University, one of the oldest programs in the United States, founded in 1977. Our interdisciplinary program offers a unique opportunity to integrate physical, biological, social and information sciences to study the environment and creatively address complex environmental problems. Over the last several decades our program has graduated over 340 Master’s students who are now lead scientists at EPA, professors and deans at major universities, industry and energy leaders, CEOs of environmental consulting firms, sustainability experts, tribal environmental program leaders, environmental educators, and leaders in a wide variety of municipal, state and federal agencies.

Graduate students in the program are provided with high-quality, advanced training and instruction in the application of the scientific method to problems in natural resource ecology and management.

Environmental sociology is the study of the relationship and interactions between societies and the environment. Professional environmental sociologists research a wide range of topics including agri-food systems, social perceptions of environmental problems, human-induced environmental degradation, the social distribution of environmental hazards, and natural disasters.

Oklahoma State University faculty interests include environmental movements, environmental organization networks, environmental attitudes, and worldviews, anti-environmentalism as a counter-movement, global environmental change, environmental justice, environmental inequalities, and sociology of disasters.
