A brief description of the undergraduate degree program:
The environmental science program at Oklahoma State University provides undergraduate students with opportunities to address environmental problems from the standpoint of ethics, risk, and scientific and social feasibility.

An environmental science multidisciplinary degree is versatile, allowing graduates to be employed in a wide range of fields and sectors including private, non-profit and government agencies. As an environmental science major, your courses will involve problem-solving studies related to water and soil quality, economics, environmental policy, political science, resource management and engineering. In addition, you will gain important skills in communication, philosophy, ethics and sociology.

A degree in natural resource ecology and management will give you an education in renewable natural resources management, conservation and use. You will gain a valuable perspective for understanding and solving critical environmental problems on local, regional and global scales.

The quality of our lives is directly connected to the health of our ecosystems. The natural resource ecology and management program will give you the tools and experiences needed to understand and apply ecological sciences and principles to benefit mankind and the environment.

Horticulture combines the science, artistry, business and technology used to produce specialty crops for food and environment beautification. Students learn sustainable practices with hands-on hydroponics, vertical growing systems and gain experiences related to plant production, maintenance, business practices and client relations.

Business sustainability focuses on the wellbeing of people and the planet while conducting business in a profitable way. Sustainable businesses pursue market solutions that push them ahead of the competition or help them to enter new markets with products better suited for long-term growth.

Pursuing the business sustainability option as part of your management major at OSU will prepare you to navigate the challenges of avoiding harm to society and the environment. You will be exposed to business opportunities that serve the bottom line of profits, society, and the environment.

The undergraduate certificate in Environmental Studies recognizes students who complete their bachelor’s degrees with a notable share of courses emphasizing the study of the natural environment and how societies interact with nature, which is done from the perspectives of history, political science, art, psychology, philosophy, literature, economics, and other disciplines. This certificate is ideal for students whose interests span the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.

Geography, Environmental Change and Sustainability Option

The Environmental Change and Sustainability track is designed for students who are interested in sustainability, particularly as it is related to global and landscape change. This track supports careers in land-use monitoring and management, disaster management, as well as working with governmental and non-governmental organizations focused on the state of the environment.
