A brief description of the institution’s formal participatory or shared governance bodies:
Student Government Association (elected position representing academic colleges and living groups). Freshman Representative Council (for incoming freshman). Staff Advisory Council members must be employed on a permanent basis (50% time or more and benefits-eligible). The Faculty Council consists of 30 elected members of the General Faculty, which represent all branches and undergraduate colleges or divisions throughout the OSU system. The Faculty Council meets with the President and Provost monthly in an advisory capacity. There is also a Graduate Council, a Women's Faculty Council, Institutional Diversity Inclusion & Affinity groups, and Dean's Councils in each College.

A member of the Student Government Association Senate Body is elected by their peers to serve in a liaison position to represent the student body at Board of Regents meetings, although they are not official board members. Information requests for engagement in OSU governance by any entity may be made in advance of board meetings through written documents transmitted to the CEO of the Board of Regents.
