Join the Master of Science Program at Oklahoma State University, one of the oldest programs in the United States, founded in 1977. Our interdisciplinary program offers a unique opportunity to integrate physical, biological, social and information sciences to study the environment and creatively address complex environmental problems. Over the last several decades our program has graduated over 340 Master’s students who are now lead scientists at EPA, professors and deans at major universities, industry and energy leaders, CEOs of environmental consulting firms, sustainability experts, tribal environmental program leaders, environmental educators, and leaders in a wide variety of municipal, state and federal agencies.

Natural Resource Ecology & Management

A brief description of the graduate degree program (2nd program):

Graduate students in the program are provided with high-quality, advanced training and instruction in the application of the scientific method to problems in natural resource ecology and management.

Students develop the capability for original and creative work under the guidance of established professionals and scientists. This includes problem analysis and identification, research methods, synthesis of results, and communication of findings.

Global Health

A brief description of the graduate degree program (3rd program):

The Master of Science in Global Health aims to acquaint students with general aspects of global health as well as specific concentrations in more technical international health subjects. The Global Health program, under the School of Health Care Administration, emphasizes health issues, determinates, and solutions that go beyond national borders. The program enhances real-world learning for students and exposes them to international global health care systems and cultures in countries with little to no resources.

Environmental Science, Professional Science Master (Option)

A brief description of the graduate minor, concentration or certificate (2nd program):

The Professional Master of Science option in Environmental Management is the first of its kind in Oklahoma. It differs from other Environmental Science Graduate Program degrees by providing students a springboard to industry-specific job opportunities. Unlike the traditional master's degrees, this program emphasizes technical training and the development of in-demand business and leadership skills. Students are able to directly apply their learning in their jobs as they pursue their degrees.

Sociology, Environmental Sociology (Option)

A brief description of the graduate minor, concentration or certificate (3rd program):

Environmental sociology is the study of the relationship and interactions between societies and the environment. Professional environmental sociologists research a wide range of topics including agri-food systems, social perceptions of environmental problems, human-induced environmental degradation, the social distribution of environmental hazards, and natural disasters.

Oklahoma State University faculty interests include environmental movements, environmental organization networks, environmental attitudes, and worldviews, anti-environmentalism as a counter-movement, global environmental change, environmental justice, environmental inequalities, and sociology of disasters.
