Environmental science aims to improve the current and future welfare of humans through the application of science and the development of sound environmental policies. You will focus on the study of the natural environment, its processes, and interactions, and the ways in which humans impact and interact within the environment.

A degree in natural resource ecology and management will give you an education in renewable resources management, conservation, and use. You will gain a valuable perspective for understanding and solving critical environmental problems on local, regional, and global scales.

Crop production, biotechnology, natural resources conservation, and biofuels are just a few of the critical areas of agriculture where we have strong programs in teaching, research, and extension. Our extension programs result in informed clients and opportunities for economic development in the state, region, nation, and world.

One of the most important skills any professional can possess is the ability to effectively manage and lead others. Every day you will be faced with a rich mixture of unique challenges that will require you to broadly understand management issues, legal and ethical problems, human resources as well as strategic or environmental pressures.

Sustainable design is a philosophy that guides design practice to ecologically benign, socially equitable, and economically viable outcomes. Also known as good design, the intention of this philosophy is to use designed spaces, objects, or messages to prompt meaningful behavioral changes that advance a sustainable society.

The Environmental Change and Sustainability track is designed for students who are interested in sustainability, particularly as it is related to global and landscape change. This track supports careers in land-use monitoring and management, disaster management, as well as working with governmental and non-governmental organizations focused on the state of the environment.
