OSU Energy Management instituted a plan to reduce energy usage across campus. The behavior-based Energy Conservation Program, which features a campus-wide policy and guidelines, has saved the institution about $40M since 2007.  OK Senate Bill 1096 (Oklahoma State facilities Energy Conservation Program) was developed to implement a State energy conservation program modeled after OSU’s and was signed into law in May 2012.  The bill requires a 20% reduction in energy by the year 2020.
