A brief description of the institution’s program to support employee volunteering:
University wide, employees are able to volunteer with the Special Olympics and United Wats Day of Caring during regular work hours.
Individual departments are generally the driving force behind any service initiatives for department employees, although faculty members are also able to participate in any of the service initiatives advertised by the Student Volunteer Center. The Student Volunteer Center also connects community members with appropriate faculty and staff to further community service initiatives. Examples of community service initiatives undertaken by faculty/staff include the creation of a city dog park, heavy involvement with the local food bank, Special Olympics, and Insect Adventure (community outreach for Entomology).
