A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation (including how multiple dimensions of sustainability are addressed):
OSU's Welcome Week, during new student orientation, features two sustainability programs, "Going Green for a Brighter Orange" and "Sustainability Campus Tour." In the Going Green workshop, students learn what OSU is doing to be more sustainable and what they can do while here on campus and beyond to conserve resources and energy and make green habits every day. The tour focuses on showing students the sustainability initiatives incorporated on campus and how they can apply to develop and fund additional initiatives Sustainability Office interns also interact with incoming freshmen and new transfer students during Camp Cowboy (8 summer weekend camps) and Residential Leadership College (at their welcome conference). Focus is on an introduction of the 3 pillars of sustainability, existing OSU sustainability initiatives, sustainable living, and how students can get involved. Move-in Recycling offers the Sustainability office and volunteers several days to set the tone for new and returning residents to conserve both resources and energy.
