A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability, including the issues, bills, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:
The Provincial Government enacted "Bill 44" which requires all Public Sector Organizations to be Carbon Neutral. We are required to measure and report our annual emissions and then purchase the required Carbon Offsets to achieve carbon Neutrality.
Since 2007, we have managed to reduce our total emissions by over 22% in spite of the fact that we have increased in size by over 25%.
We are routinely asked to speak on Bill 44 as well as share our strategies and success stories to help others achieve similar results.
