Does the institution have a program to reduce residence hall move-out waste?:
Yes

A brief description of the program:

We have an ongoing recycling program through which residents are encouraged to recycle responsibly from move-in to move-out. Each room is provided with a blue recycling bag at move-in and residents are instructed to refer to the recycling guide clearly posted in each room (see example below) for details on what is recyclable. Full bags are placed outside the RA office for the RA’s to place in a locked outdoor recycling bin. Free blue bags are available in the housing office, whereas garbage bags are sold for 25 cents each. Garbage dumpsters are periodically checked to ensure residents are not misusing blue bags in place of garbage bags.

We have also just introduced a Kitchenware Recycling program through which residents can donate unwanted items. Used pots, pans, dishes, coffee makers, toasters, etc. will be sold to incoming and existing residents at garage sale prices.
