Climate & Sustainability Ambassadors Program
A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):
The Ambassadors are a group of students, faculty, and staff that work to achieve the goals in the university's sustainability and climate action plans, increase climate literacy and reduce personal carbon footprints, and provide climate change education outreach and sustainability-focused events across campus and in the broader SE Ohio region. The Sustainable Administration Hub Coordinator, a paid faculty affiliate of the Office of Sustainability, organizes, leads and trains the group. The Ambassadors serve all students with public events, social media posts, and speaking in classes, but it would be difficult to determine actual numbers of students contacted. In the fall of 2019, Ambassadors held educational events in each of the residential greens on campus to target and serve all residential students. The Ambassadors also created a video with sustainable living tips for orientation programs which targets all incoming freshmen, transfer students, graduate students and international students. In the spring of 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ambassadors contributed book reviews, how-to blog, and educational videos to OHIO's virtual Earth Month Celebrations, serving all students who accessed the social media posts. In the 2020-21 academic year, the Ambassadors created weekly podcasts on the themes in the new (draft) Sustainability & Climate Action Plan (https://rss.com/podcasts/ohiouniversitysustainabilityseries/).

Sustainable Living Floor
A brief description of the student educators program (2nd program):
A floor in one of the LEED residence halls on campus has been dedicated to the specialized living/learning experience of sustainability. Students apply to live on the floor and those accepted explore what it means to live a sustainable lifestyle as an Ohio University student, including discussing various sustainability issues; engaging in peer-to-peer education programming; and furthering the benchmarks of the Ohio University Climate Action and Sustainability Plans. A student staff member in the Office of Sustainability works with the Resident Advisor for the Sustainable Living Floor to hold educational events for the students on the floor. 2019-20 was the last year for the Sustainable Living Floor.
