The Ohio University Student Senate is the elected representative body for all undergraduate, graduate and medical students on the Ohio University, Athens Campus, with appointed representation from all five regional campuses. Additionally, the President of Student Senate is a voting member of the university’s Budget Planning Council and sits on the University Presidents Cabinet.

All graduate students of Ohio University, Athens campus, shall be eligible to vote in the Graduate Student Senate election. All full and part-time graduate students from the Ohio University, Athens campus currently enrolled in an official graduate degree-granting program and in good academic standing shall be eligible to serve on the GSS. There shall be at least two general meetings scheduled each month, except January, May, June, July, August, and December.

Student Members of the Ohio University Board of Trustees are appointed by the Governor of Ohio. Applications are distributed by the Ohio University Student Senate, interviews are conducted by a committee made up of representatives from all five university senates; Student, Graduate, Faculty, Administrative and Classified Senates. A slate of candidates is then sent to the Governor’s Office for review and selection.

The Ohio University Administrative Senate is an elected body representing administrators at Ohio University. The purpose of the Administrative Senate is to promote and enhance the profession of university administration and specifically, the profession at Ohio University. The Administrative Senate is committed to providing a collective and independent voice to those having administrative responsibilities in the conduct of the educational mission of the University. The Senate provides the administrative staff of the University with a legitimate and necessary role in the governance of the University through a public forum where the individual and representative voices of the staff will be heard, and will be one of equal participation with other representative groups in University decision-making.

The Ohio University Classified Senate serves as "an advisory board for the discussion of
policies, procedures, benefits, and services affecting classified employees...
All permanent full-time and permanent part-time classified employees of Ohio University beyond the initial probationary period, are eligible for membership on Classified Senate." http://www.ohio.edu/csen/upload/Bylaws.pdf
