A brief description of how green cleaning is incorporated into cleaning contracts:

(Note: Ohio University hires its own custodial staff and does not have a cleaning contract with a third party)
The strategies outlined in the Green Cleaning Practices will assist Ohio University (OHIO) Facilities Management in their efforts to provide services that are valued, effective and efficient while allowing the department to serve as responsible stewards of the university’s resources (in accordance with the Vice President for Finance & Administration Mission Statement). While maintaining a clean, healthy and sustainable living, learning and working environment is reliant on the practices of Ohio University custodial staff, it is also essential that building occupants do their part to maintain a safe space. Additional efforts put forth during the construction of new buildings will allow for building occupants to appropriately interact with their built environments in order to contribute to the Green Cleaning Practices as established here.

Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with an energy management or benchmarking program? (0-100):
8

A brief description of the energy management or benchmarking program:

Ohio University has an electrical sub-meter for every building on-campus fed by OHIO's 69kV sub-station. We are in the last stages of a "Metering Phase I" project that added $1.5 million of meters to our Priority A buildings - about 2 million square feet of research, dining, housing and athletic space. We place to start benchmarking these buildings in 2017-2018.

As of right now, we have 505,091 GSF of buildings, a total of 11 buildings, completely sub-metered, including CHW, Natural Gas, Steam, Condensate, Electric, Domestic Hot Water and Domestic Cold Water. We used two different software solutions to do the monitoring and benchmarking. 1) EnergyCAP from which we pay all of our utility bills and manage our sub-meters on a monthly basis and 2) Earthright Dashboard from which we get real-time data for minute-to-minute consumption from the real-time sub-meters. Buildings included are 9 Factory St, Carr, Luchs, Sowle, Tanaka, LLC, McCracken, Tupper, Lindley, WUSOC and 31 South Court.
We now have complete sub-metering of our CHW system and use the system to do studies and troubleshoot and equipment using more than average for the building type benchmark.
Lastly, using our EnergyCAP software, we do monthly utility bill audits on all of the bills received from the utilities and have an approval and audit process in place to make sure any above normal usage is flagged, a work order generated, and investigated - and solved, where applicable.

Of the institution's uncertified building space, what percentage of floor area is maintained in accordance with a water management or benchmarking program? (0-100):
100

A brief description of the water management or benchmarking program:

We have utility domestic cold water meters on every facility on campus. Each month, we utilize EnergyCAP, our utility bill management software, to run audits on the usage and bills. We send out a monthly WUI (Water usage intensity) report and a 4 year-over-year graph to demonstrate outliers. When an outlier or WUI is higher than it should be, a work order is generated, and troubleshot and resolved. OHIO has avoided over $100,000 of water costs in the past year from utilizing this method.
