A brief description of the program, including examples of peer-to-peer outreach activities:
The Sustainability Tracking and Evaluation Program (STEP) is a sustainability certification program which aims to recognize departments or offices across campus for their sustainable efforts, whether they be existing practices or new changes. The certification program consists of a series of items or tasks on a checklist that count as points toward becoming certified. Behavior changes, implementation of new protocols, and education make up a large amount of the tasks included in the checklist. The goal of STEP is to engage faculty, staff and students in the effort to improve the sustainability profile of Ohio University. In FY18, the program was enhanced to incorporate peer-to-peer education by training employees about sustainability and the STEP program and teaching them how to bring their knowledge to their/other departments across campus.

A brief description of how the employee educators are selected:
The employee educators self-select. Press releases about the training sessions are sent to all University employees through the University's formal employee news source, Compass. Employees can choose to attend a training and, therefore, officially become a STEP Ambassador.

A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive to prepare them to conduct peer outreach:
All employees at Ohio University are encouraged to attend public training sessions held on-campus at no cost. Employees who are not able to attend the sessions can request one-on-one training (it is up to the discretion of the Office of Sustainability if such training will occur).

A brief description of the financial and/or administrative support the institution provides to the program (e.g. annual budget and/or paid faculty/staff coordination):
The program is currently funded through the Office of Sustainability and all administrative support is provided by staff within that office.

If reporting employees served by additional peer-to-peer programs, provide:

A brief description of the program, including examples of peer-to-peer outreach activities (2nd program):
Each semester, meetings are held covering each of the 4 areas of the Ohio University Sustainability Plan (Energy Efficiency, Waste Reduction, Outreach & Education, and Built Environments). A responsible party or parties gives a presentation on the area of interest, and meeting attendees can answer questions or discuss the University's progress toward its sustainability goals. Please note that this program is being redesigned in the 2017-18 calendar year to align with the revised Sustainability and Climate Action Plan which is due in summer 2018.

A brief description of how the employee educators are selected (2nd program):
The employee educators are chosen from the responsible parties listed in the Sustainability Plan. Meetings are open to all faculty, staff and students. Outreach efforts are targeted to all members of the campus community and all academic and administrative units.

A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive to prepare them to conduct peer outreach (2nd program):
All employees at Ohio University have access to formal training programs; however, the employee educators are not required to complete formal training to educate their peers at the SOUL meetings since they are already considered experts in their fields and, therefore, additional training for peer education of their field is not necessary.

A brief description of the financial and/or administrative support the institution provides to the program (e.g. annual budget and/or paid faculty/staff coordination) (2nd program):
Funded and administered by the Office of Sustainability.
