A brief description of the program, including examples of peer-to-peer outreach activities:
EcoReps at Ohio University is a residential-based group, though involvement from and service to non-residents is also a priority. This groups focuses on peer-to-peer education on issues relating to sustainability. Programs include: Residential Hall activities such as compost education, presentations, reused craft events, local food programs, and service learning. EcoReps also give presentations to student organizations or classes.

Students self-select. It is a student organization that is open to all Ohio University students.
A brief description of the formal training that the student educators receive to prepare them to conduct peer outreach:
The EcoReps President runs through all activities with the participants so they can then lead activities with others. Additionally, the Office of Sustainability has one FTE appointed as the group's staff advisor and the Office of Sustainability employs a Graduate Assistant who assists the group and attends events, as appropriate. These Advisors offer leadership and direction to maintain consistency in the group's training.
A brief description of the financial and/or administrative support the institution provides to the program (e.g. annual budget and/or faculty/staff coordination):
The organization has a faculty advisor and can gain funding from the Student Activities Council by applying for funds. Office of Sustainability offers support when possible.

All students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in SOUL, the implementation and education/outreach organization dedicated to the fulfillment of the Sustainability and Climate Action Plans. In FY18, the Sustainability Plan is in full revision mode, which has altered the format of SOUL to be an electronic newsletter rather than an in-person committee. It is expected that the in-person mode of SOUL will resume in Fall 2018 or when the new Sustainability Plan has been adopted (whichever comes first).

At this time, all students, faculty and staff can self-select to be involved.
A brief description of the formal training that the student educators receive to prepare them to conduct peer outreach (2nd program):
Meetings are held regularly to offer hands-on, peer-to-peer training on a variety of topics. Participants can present to other groups to help disseminate information across campus. Historically, each meeting begins with education/overview of the topic of the week before diving into news on said topic. In FY18, the SOUL newsletter has offered education on specific topics and invitations to participate in the public comment period of the Sustainability Plan revisions.

Office of Sustainability is currently the financial and staff supporter of this organization. The organization also reports to the Ecology and Energy Conservation Committee, a university standing committee which serves as the "monitoring agent" of the Sustainability and Climate Action Plans.

A floor in one of the LEED buildings on campus is dedicated to the specialized living/learning experience of Sustainability. Residents of the floor: explore what it means to live a sustainable lifestyle as an Ohio University student; engage in discussions about different sustainable issues; expand the on the ideas, philosophy, and programming of the the Eco Reps program and the OHIO Ecohouse program; engage in peer-to-peer education programming, and; further the benchmarks of the Ohio University Climate Action and Sustainability Plans. A graduate student from the Recreation and Sport Pedagogy program works with the Resident Advisor for the Sustainable Living Floor to hold educational events for the students on the floor.

The Recreation and Sport Pedagogy department and the Office of Sustainability interview graduate students for the graduate assistant position. The Office of Housing and Residence Life hires the Resident Assistants.

The Director of the Office of Sustainability works with the graduate assistant to prepare for all peer outreach events.
