Green Committee
This group comprises an interdisciplinary team of staff, faculty, and students who meet regularly to outline and prioritize sustainability initiatives on and off campus. In addition to guiding decisions about operations and practices, the Committee also sponsors events and activities throughout the year.

Utilities & Emissions
Track Energy, waste, water consumption (data) and find ways to reduce the College's carbon emissions
Ecological Stewardship
Support nature by improving plant and animal health through outdoor restoration- remove invasive species and promote anti-littering, etc.
Equity & Accessibility
Support BIPOC student and community groups and their leadership in "green" initiatives. Improve access to all for nature opportunities
Learning & Engagement
Educate the College campus and community about the natural world, how to protect it, and how to have fun in it!
Institutional Advancement
Recognize and promote Oakton College as a leader in sustainability and partner with others on collaborative projects

Oakton College Sustainability Center Comprises of The Sustainability Specialist role, Naturalist Role, Director of Facilities, Sustainability Student workers, Sustainability Volunteers, Green Committee, Environmental Studies Advisory Committee, and Local/ regional partnerships.

A brief description of the activities and substantive accomplishments of the institution-wide coordinating body or officer during the previous three years:
In the previous three years The Green Committee has revilatilized the community Apiary, Conducted a Waste Sort and added Composting services to the cafeteria, Conducted Earth Month and Campus Sustainability Month activities, Maintained a community garden, Naturalized large swaths of the campus, Treated buildings with bird friendly film, installed EV charging stations, converted parking Lot lights to LED, Contructed outdoor classrooms, conducted tree plantings, and conducted natural habitat formation to increase biodiversity.
