Total campus area:
Figures required to calculate the total area of managed grounds:
Area (double-counting is not allowed) | |
Area managed organically, without the use of inorganic fertilizers and chemical pesticides, fungicides and herbicides | 0.37 Acres |
Area managed in accordance with an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program that uses selected chemicals only when needed | 85.46 Acres |
Area managed using conventional, chemical-based landscape management practices | 97.02 Acres |
Total area of managed grounds | 182.85 Acres |
If the total area of managed grounds is less than the total campus area, provide:
Cultural control through intensive collection and spreading of native seed; and also woodland management through thinning, prescribed burning, and favoring different species in different woodland types. Biological control through purple loosestrife beetles and garlic mustard aphids, and reducing damage done by small mammals by creating conditions favorable to their predators.. Mechanical control by hand-pulling garlic mustard and sweet clover, and removing by hand or burning egg cases of spongy moth and spotted lanternfly. Chemicals are used only when all other methods are exhausted, and even then, the chemical with the least harmful collateral impact is chosen.
