Green Committee Monthly Meetings

A brief description of the employee educators program (1st program):

The Green Committee meets mmonthly to discuss and proimote green initiatives at the college. Previous projects include education on the community apiary, Waste reduction education at the college, and community gardening and native planting programs for the college. Green Committee engages staff specifically to join in and learn about sustainable initiatives at the college. Employee educators are trained by the Sustainability specialist and naturalist, and they are taught to lead and facilitate events such as native plantings, community gardening, and waste sorting. Outreach includes email blasts, blurbs in the college newsletter, and monthly meeting requests sent out the the staff at the college join in on Green Committee meetings. Committee members also reach out to peers via Oakton's nature blog and website.

The target audience in this program are college staff and faculty. Newly onboarded employees are always educated about the presence of green committee and invited to join the program on their first day at the college.
