A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation :
The Sustainability Center created a short video that was shared during the orientation. This is only for new, first-year students at the moment. In addition, students learn about sustainability initiatives during the in-person campus tour. We have a designated page on our own Oakton website discussing actions that were taken by the school regarding sustainability.
Sustainability Office, Naturalist, Environmental Club, Students for Global Health and Sustainability, and Environmental Studies Concenttration are all Campus Offices that offer tabling during our major orientation and recruiting event in September: Fall Fest. During this orientation and recruiting event, all students at the college are invitied to be part of our orientation activities such as beehive visits, campus tours, seed planting, seed collection, bird collision on campus buildings, Building LEED status, Community Garden, Student internships and education programs, and more.
