A brief description of the faculty sustainability research program:
  1. I founded Water Protectors of Milwaukee in 2016.
  2. I have published a field guide to the biodiversity of the Chicago region. The third edition is now published, which contains species descriptions and photos of 650 species in addition to introductory chapters the cover topics such as: geology and topography, habitats and ecosystems, people and land use, environmental philosophy, and conservation and restoration. Here is the reference: Gulezian, Paul Zorn. A Field Guide to the Biodiversity of the Chicago Region, 3rd Ed, Tophatmonocle. Toronto. 2023.
  3. Assist or Manage of all aquatic microhabitats on campus. Monitor and manage the toad and salamander ponds.
  4. Khursheed Ichhaporia, associate professor of Biology, will participate in the Council of American Overseas Research Centers’ Overseas Faculty Development Seminar  

    Des Plaines, Ill. (May 2, 2024) - Oakton’s Biology professor Khursheed Ichhaporia will travel to Mongolia this summer to study climate change and public health with a select group of college educators. Ichhaporia will join 13 faculty from community colleges and minority-serving institutions selected by the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) to participate in the Overseas Faculty Development Seminar.
