NSU is a current member of the local Sustainability Stewards of Broward, a network of over 400 sustainability-minded professionals that meet for quarterly workshops to network and build community partnerships for moving sustainability forward in the region.

NSU is a partner in collaboration for the Broward STAR sustainablty metric and benchmark team to collect data and promote Broward County as a Certified 4-STAR Community for achieving national excellence in sustainability.

NSU has a designated seat on the Broward County Climate Change Task Force. The seat became vacant as of 2017 and is awaiting reappointment.

In 2016, NSU joined as an affiliate of the Florida Climate Institute. The Florida Climate Institute (FCI) is made up of a diverse group of people interested in sharing research and skills related to climate issues.

Also, a NSU College of Law professor regularly provides pro nonlegal advice and counsel to government staff members of the Southeast Florida, (4 County) Regional Climate Compact, and speaks frequently to civic organizations, other schools and the community at large. Also, the law school has partnered with the Broward County Bar Association to host a regular series of meetings and workshops to increase the engagement of the local legal community on sea level rise issues.
