A brief description of any internal sustainability professional development and training opportunities that the institution makes available to non-academic staff:
The majority of sustainability professional development opportunities resides in the Office of Facilities Management. The Office of Facilities Management actively participates in the Association for Physical Plant Administrators (APPA), providing selected sustainability courses to non-academic professionals as well as the opportunity for staff to participate in weekly trainings as provided by APPA on a variety of facilities management topics.

A brief description of any external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are supported by the institution :
The Office of Facilities Management coordinates training opportunities with a number of external sources that include the Association of Physical Plant Administrators (APPA), the Association for Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), Florida Power and Light (FPL), Waste Management, and our custodial partner.

NSU supports Certified Energy crediting for all Certified Energy Managers.

Physical Plant Department includes an Energy Engineering position which oversees two additional positions who's primary focus is on sustainability at Nova Southeastern University. Review is additionally included for the Director and Deputy Director for Physical Plant. Performance reviews are conducted annually.
