A brief description of the institution’s wellness and/or employee assistance program(s):
NSCC provides information on the public NSCC website about student counselling and wellbeing services. The website also includes information on how to contact community resources, such as the Mental Health Crisis Line. In addition, each campus employs a Student Services Team that offers on-site counselling and wellness services to students. For online students, an e-Campus Student Services Team is also available. This information can be found by following the link below:

The Human Resources department provides proactive and supportive programs to enhance employee wellbeing and implements effective workplace policies regarding employee health and safety. In addition, NSCC provides its employees with access to the Workhealthlife Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP). The program is designed to give employees and their families immediate confidential support to resolve work, health, and life challenges. More information can be found at the following link:

The institution’s smoke-free policy:
As of September 1st, 2018, NSCC enacted its Smoke-Free policy. The policy applies to all employees, students, contractors, and visitors on any NSCC property. According to the policy, all smoking is prohibited on all NSCC property except for tobacco and e-cigarettes (excluding cannabis). However, tobacco smoking and e-cigarette use are only permitted in designated smoking areas. The policy can be found by following the link below:

The Nova Scotia, Smoke-free Places Act, prohibits smoking in most indoor spaces. Thus this condition was not required to be included in the NSCC Smoke-Free Policy. More information on the Nova Scotia Smoke-free Places Act can be found at the link below:
