Has the institution banned or eliminated the on-site sales and distribution of at least one type of single-use disposable plastic?:
Yes

A brief description of the single-use disposable plastics that have been banned or eliminated:
The NSCC has eliminated plastic straws from all of our 15 cafeterias across the province. We have many different caterers, from larger companies (i.e. Chartwell's) to small local businesses that run these sites, and they have all switched to compostable paper straws. To ensure the straws are composted, the campuses have quad stream waste sorting stations in the cafeteria that include comprehensive signage on where to dispose of the straws. The College also does waste audits yearly to analyze each campus' waste sorting accuracy.
The College does not use plastic bags at any of our campuses. This is in line with a provincial ban on plastic bags.
