Marconi Recycles

A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):

The students from the Social Services program participate in bi-annual waste audits to learn proper waste management skills from the sustainability department. Observations from the audits are used in a class project to suggest improvements to waste diversion on campus and to teach fellow students proper waste management skills. Social media campaigns were arranged and educational booths displayed at lunchtime outside the cafeteria. Success of the campaign is measured by improvement in the waste diversion rate and increased engagement from the campus community.

The target audience for this program was students at the Marconi Campus. The student educators were trained by NSCC's Certified Engineering Technologist/trained waste auditor prior to participating in the campus' waste audit.
