A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation:
Each NSCC campus has different ways of promoting sustainability during the student orientation week.
Many of our campuses have information kiosks/booths with information pertaining to sustainability on campus set up in high traffics areas during the first week of school. This information includes: energy, solid waste management- pack it in/pack it out program, water conservation, grounds greening, public transit and car pooling incentives, cafeteria reusable mug/bowl incentives, health and wellness fitness centre, etc.
The largest outreach of our sustainability orientation is a student produced video discussing sustainability at NSCC. This video is emailed to all staff and students at NSCC to showcase sustainability and what it means to the college.
