NSCC offers a credited course to all faculty and staff in sustainability. It is offered annually and is open to all employees. The facilitators are trained educators.

The course is facilitated in-house by staff who are sponsored and trained in Education for Sustainability (EFS), including taking the AASHE Sustainability Across the Curriculum Leadership, Natural Step Sustainability for Leaders workshops and UBC's Leadership for Sustainability.

The college sponsors the sustainability course; participants attend the week –long course free of charge. The college pays for all facilitator and course expenses, participant food and accommodation during the week, as well as all nature-based learning expenses such as honorariums and transportation.

The staff educators are selected by the facilities management central office inaccordance with their relevance to what is being discussed at the conference. They are selected base on relevant expertise in a given topic. Based on the size of the organization, there is a wide range of skills and expertise available to facilitate in-house training.

Every year NSCC holds a three day educational conference for all Facilities and Engineering staff. In 2012 the focal point of the conference was sustainability, with various courses offered, and a host of guest speakers on the topic of sustainability
