Does the institution have policies and/or programs in place to reduce emissions from air travel?:
Yes
None
A brief description of the policies and/or programs:
In order to reduce the emissions from travel, NSCC has adopted a policy of using teleconference or video conference whenever possible. In the event that teleconference or video conference is not a viable option, NSCC employees are encouraged to reduce emissions from air travel by carpooling and using alternative forms of transportation. Air travel is only considered when travelling long distances such as out-of-province or out-of-country and time is a factor.
The following is taken from the NSCC Travel and Reimbursement Policy, August 31, 2011.
“College employees are encouraged to use the most economical form of travel when reasonable and feasible, and when the use of video conference, conference calling or other communication tools is not an option.”
