The NSCC Sustainability Policy states that all new construction shall be completed in compliance with LEED standards. This requirement is echoed in the NSCC Procurement Policy.

Since 2008, all new NSCC buildings have been built to LEED standards, and certified through CaGBC. In the past three years, NSCC has constructed two new buildings. The Centre for the Built Environment (Dartmouth), and the Marconi Centre for the Built Environment. These buildings were awards LEED Gold and LEED Silver, respectively. The first NSCC LEED building is the Waterfront Campus, which is LEED Silver, and opened its doors in 2007.
