A brief description of the institution’s wellness and/or employee assistance program(s):
NUCares is a new fund that allows employees to support each other through times of crisis and need. Employees may apply to NUCares if they are experiencing an unforeseen financial hardship and need assistance. Any employee can donate to the fund through cash, check or payroll deduction. The Office of Human Resources also runs the Employee Assistance Program, which is a network of resources for all Northwestern employees and their families to help them navigate everyday life issues. Services include counseling, webinars, finance tools and other resources. (http://www.northwestern.edu/hr/work-life/faculty-staff-assistance-program.html) Also available through Human Resources is a series of workshops "to address a variety of work/life topics." Topics include managing stress, parenting, finance assistance, health and wellness, and caregiving.
Human Resources also has established a new program call the YourLife Wellness Program. YourLife helps create and sustain a culture that educates, motivates, and empowers faculty, staff and retirees, and their eligible family members, to adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles. Through YourLife, you can access a wide variety of programs & services, resources, reading materials, and discounts, which can help you make thoughtful, positive choices to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being. Counseling is available for students through Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), the Women's Center, and the Center for Awareness, Response and Education (CARE), which promotes healthy sexuality.
