The Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator provides support to recruit and retain student populations who have been historically underrepresented, assists in shaping the campus community’s understanding of and appreciation for diversity, and works to enhance the campus climate for and commitment to diversity. This is accomplished through mentoring, advocacy, visibility events, and intentional programming. The Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator is an evolving position consistent with Northland College’s commitment to diversity, including race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, religion, ability, or sexual/gender identity/expression, with an initial focus on students of color.

All entering students attend programming on prejudice, privilage and inclusion facilitated by the Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator as a part of their orientation.

All employees on an annual basis are required to complete mandatory training on a variety of topics. This year's training included programming on implicit bias and microaggression awareness.
