Northland College eco-reps

A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):
The Eco-Reps are a NCSA Refund project with the mission of connecting and empowering all student lead groups on campus through individual sustainability education and action. Sustainability is defined as the long-term ability to survive (thrive). The three pillars are: environmental, economic, and social.

A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (1st program):
The Eco-Rep's program fosters stronger relationships with Student Life, Residential Life, and Northland College Athletics by integrating sustainable priorities and practices at a more intrapersonal, day-to-day level. Northland College’s Eco-Reps aim is to motivate the campus community and engage in positive behavior, as a tool for change regarding environmental and social sustainability. A significant goal is to inspire all students to step up to the challenge and develop as leaders in their residence halls, friend groups, athletic teams, clubs, and organizations, and in the classroom. The co-leaders of Eco-Reps work as a team to dream up, develop, and implement thoughtful campus events and programs to promote sustainability behavior. Currently, the Eco-Reps are developing a reliable volunteer base that will be based in the resident halls. In the past we have hosted hour long, bi-weekly meetings open to the student body, where we have conversations that engage our mission. We have intentions of working with RAs in the future and Northland Highways to work on dorm sustainability, as well as educational programming for our first-year students/community members on campus. The Eco-Reps sponsor events such as Sustainable Sex Night, Tiny Hour Tour, and Conserve-a-thon throughout the school year.
