A brief description of any internal sustainability professional development and training opportunities that the institution makes available to staff:
Staff Professional Development Funds are available for employees through an application and review process. Staff across all divisions of the College have opportunities to participate is sustainability related training and professional development. Furthermore, staff are able to enroll for free in any class at Northland College, including coursework in sustainability. Staff are also offered sustainability tours of the campus.

A brief description of any external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are supported by the institution(e.g. through payment, reimbursement, or subsidy):
Northland College provides annual on-campus training for all staff that includes sustainability as a central element. In addition, staff are encouraged and supported to attend conferences (including AASHE) that specifically focus on sustainability. Sustainability is considered in performance reviews, as sustainability is core to the mission of the College. Here is a snapshot of professional development activities in sustainability for Northland staff last year at the Burke Center (just one of Northland's six Centers on Sustainability): 1st Quarter 2017 – • 8 presentations • 1 publication • 2 outreach and networking events 2nd Quarter 2017 • 18 presentations • 3 publications and reports • 19 outreach and networking events 3rd Quarter 2017 – • 5 presentations • 3 publications and reports • 15 outreach and networking events 4th Quarter 2017 – • 1 presentation • 2 publications • 13 outreach and networking events
