NMU strives for LEED Certification on each major project and follows the guidelines for diverting items from the landfill. Additionally, NMU Housing salvages, re-purposes or donates several items of furniture in lieu of discarding for the landfill. NMU's Central Services also has a surplus site/warehouse for departments to review and claim items for NMU use prior to entering the Public Surplus site.
