A brief description of the methodology or tool used to calculate the institution’s nitrogen footprint:
We gathered data from the University facilities and grounds department for fiscal years 2019 and 2023 (2019 was used as a comparison to an external consultant's report to see if the SIMAP calculations matched the consultants). SIMAP calculations were similar (within less than 1%) to the hired energy consultant's calculations. Thus, we used SIMAP for 2023 data. We entered data for purchased energy, transportation, and fertilizer on campus. In fiscal year 2023, we emitted 8.28 metric tons of Nitrogen.
