Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
Northern has a very active Center for Student Enrichment that coordinates a number of different community-service programs. Using responses to NSSE data (2021 survey - https://nmu.edu/institutionaleffectiveness/nsse-2021), we calculated the average hours spent doing community service. Total hours are calculated by averaging the self-reported weekly average across all student volunteers for 32 weeks of the year. Students volunteer an average of 135 hours per academic year. Average for the entire student body is 55 hours per student, per academic year. For more information on these different programs, see: http://www.nmu.edu/studentenrichment/
