The Woods Residence Hall complex (2018) on NMU campus met the requirements of LEED Green Building Certification to become LEED Silver under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. LEED Certification was not sought for The Northern Center Renovation (2019) renovation and the Northern Lights Dining Hall Renovation (2018), however they designed by and complied with the 2015 Michigan Uniform Energy Code Part 10 with ASHRAE 90.1
