Does the institution host a food bank, pantry, or equivalent resource focused on alleviating food insecurity, hunger and poverty among students?:
Yes
A brief description of the food bank, pantry, or equivalent resource:
The NMU Food Pantry is located in Gries Hall, above the NMU Health Center. It is open during the fall and winter semesters on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
If you are unable to visit the pantry during normal hours, please contact the Dean of Students Office for assistance (906)227-1700.
The pantry is funded entirely by donations to the NMU Foundation. Throughout the academic year, various food drives provide supplemental food and products to the pantry. In addition to the organized food drive events, we are continuously thankful for the donations and contributions by members of the NMU community, alumni, and area supporters.
The NMU Food Pantry Facebook page provides regular updates: https://www.facebook.com/NMUFoodPantry/
