Northern Illinois University has partnered with Zipcar to bring self-service, on-demand car sharing to the area. Students who do not owm cars can rent cars for an hour or a day. This is a sharing car program because many individuals might be able to use these car.

Yes

NIU currently have two Level 2 ChargePoint CT4000 charging stations located on the first level of the parking garage. The units are available for anyone to use as long as they set up an account through ChargePoint and pay for the charging. The cost to use the stations is $1/hour.

NIU has a few programs and incentives to encourage more sustainable transportation.
1. First is the use of a bus line called the Huskie Line that is provided for students and employees to take. Individuals can track the bus lines on the app Spot to see real life time locations of buses and this makes it easier for students to acess and ride them.
2. NIU has a facebook group aimed at student commuters, it is a space in which commuting NIU students can connect with other students traveling to campus from the same, or close, places in order to share rides.
3. NIU currently has a remote work policy, this policy allows NIU staff and employeed to request to work remotely for x number ofnweeks and NIU must comply with the proper guidelines. Allowing remote work for certain periods can reduce the amount of times staff need to commute to school.
